This beautiful botanical print, Hypericum Calycinum, or Rose of Sharon, is from a Dutch work, FLORA, Afbeeldingen en Beshrijvingen van Boomen...authoried by Heinrich Witte and published in the Netherlands, 1869-71.
The decorative color plates in this work depicted the most attractive Dutch garden plants, shrubs and trees. The lithographs were engraved by G. Severeyns of Brussels after paintings by botanical artist, Abraham Jacobus Wendel. Heinrich Witte, a Dutch gardener, was the head curator at the Leiden botanical garden in Holland.
Size and Condition
The approximate size of this lovely botanical print is approximately 9 1/2" x 11 1/2". The colors are still strong and vivid and this print is in very good condition with only some faint spotting which does not distract from the beauty of this botanical. As typical of the age of this item, the paper has overall page toning. A copy of the original title page will be included.
