This map, “United States North America The South Central Section Comprising Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, Western Territory and Part of Missouri,” was engraved by G.H. Swanston, Edinburgh. Published by A.Fullarton & Co. Edinburgh, London and Dublin in 1888. A hand colored steel engraving, it is from The Companion Atlas to the Gazatteer of the World.
The map shows a large portion of Texas and the upper portion of Texas is shown as Indian Territory. Details include rivers, lakes, cities and towns. The hand coloring is in soft pastels
Size and Condition
Condition is good with a center fold. The paper has overall age toning and some soiling confined mostly to the margin areas. Size is approximately 18 ½” x 23”.
