This is an original, handcolored, double folded Sydenham Edwards botanical print, Plate 1260, from The Botanical Magazine, published London, 1810. First published in 1787 by William Curtis, this publication published beautiful botanical hand colored engravings for each issue. Edwards, the son of a Welsh schoolmaster, was a botanical artist who became a friend and employee of noted English botanical artist, William Curtis. He came to London to work with Curtis and during 27 years most of the drawings in Curtis Botanical Magazine were drawn by him.
