These plates are from James E. DeKay’s Zoology of New York, Part V. Mollusca,
published Albany, N.Y., 1843.
DeKay, 1792-1851, authored some of the most beautiful
volumes in the 19th century New York Natural History Series. Most of the volumes were limited to 300 handcolored copies and the work included mammals, birds, reptiles, fish, mollusks and crustaceans.
Size and Condition
The paper is a heavy stock and creamy in color and overall size is approximately 8 ¾” x 11 ¼”. Condition is good with some minor soiling and a copy of the title page is included.
