This is a very beautiful chromolithograph of a mushroom variety, Agaricus Albellus and Agaricus Graveolens, from the first edition of F. Leuba’s “Les Champignons Comestibles …” published Paris, 1890.One of the most beautiful and rare work on mushrooms, there were over 52 prints represented, including the exotic truffle. Many of the mushroom prints, including this one, have dramatic and very decorative black backgrounds.


This chromolithograph, Plate XII, Agaricus Albellus and Agaricus Graveolens details these edible American mushrooms which are usually found in damp wood.
Size and Condition

Condition is very fine and the overall size is approximately 9 ¾” x 13 ½” long. There was no descriptive text but a copy of the title page is included.
