This is a beautiful hand colored aquatint, Scene from Cumston, on fine wove paper with a strong plate mark. From Federick Christian Lewis' Scenery of the River Dart, published London, 1820-21.
Lewis was an eminent early nineteenth century English engraver and landscape painter. Born in 1779, he exhibited his art at the Royal Academy, The British Institution, the Society of British artists and at the Old Water-Color Society. He was Engraver of Drawings to King George IV, King William IV and Queen Victoria.
